Winamp Visualization Plug-in MilkDrop v1.01!

Published by

MilkDrop is a Winamp visualization plug-in. It uses 3D graphics hardware, combined with iterative image-based rendering techniques, to create a visual journey through sound. Take a look at some of the images it produces; but keep in mind these still images leave out the element of time, which, as you will see, is what

To install MilkDrop, simply run the installation program. It will place milkdrop in your [winampplugins] directory, and put some preset files (*.milk) in [winamppluginsmilkdrop].

To configure MilkDrop, hit CTRL+P (for Preferences) from within Winamp. On the left, under plug-ins, click 'Visualization', then select 'MilkDrop' on the right, then click 'Configure'. To run MilkDrop, you can click 'Configure', or hit CTRL+SHIFT+K.

Note that the default color bit depth for MilkDrop is 16 bits. We recommend you try a 32-bit-color video mode to see if it runs well, because if it does, the image quality will often be much better. If it only runs well in 16-bit color, though, you should then try adjusting the Brightness slider (which only affects 16-bit color video modes) on the config panel. The goal is to make the image as bright as possible, without oversaturating it (washing it out); but the setting required for this varies for the many video cards out there. Usually a setting of '0' or '2' works best.
