Video Codec Comparison

Just got word that Doom9.og have posted their Video Codec Comparison! Here's a snip.

After more than 3 weeks of work and no free time during that period it has been done: The latest codec comparison is online. 7 codecs have been put through one of the hardest tests in the history of codec testing. The results: find out on your own ;)

I went ahead and fixed some errors that were present in the comparison and while at it I made some small improvements. Filesizes are now presented in a table and I replaced the Futurama screenshots by JPEG @ 97% ones. This lower compression ratio doesn't add too many visible artifacts but also increases the size by a factor of 2. In any case, the Futurama shots as presented here can now be used to make a useful visual comparison (the usual "frames cannot replace a video" disclaimer still applies though). I couldn't use PNG because that would have increased the size by a factor of 8 and that would render the comparison almost inaccessible for non-broadband users. Imagine using PNGs for the Matrix comparison.. you'd have to load a whopping 10MB for a single page. I did not replace the other screenshots as even at 85% the codec generated artifacts clearly outweigh the JPEG compression generated artifacts.
