Unfortunately he had sad news to tell us. The benchmark really does exist. The Unreal performance test however will remain a confidential test platform for Unreal engine evaluation. This means that the general public will not be able to download the benchmark from the internet. Warp2Search: Will Epic release UPT publicly? Mark Rein: It is not our intention to make the UPT available to the general public because it serves as a testbed for the newest technology and therefore won't run on the majority of system out there anyway. UPT will go on as the testbed for "next year's" computers. What we did learn however is that the code used for gathering the performance related details will be integrated into the upcoming Unreal Tournament 2003 demo and final game. Warp2Search: Or is it rather a developer tool to estimate performance levels of different systems? Mark Rein: What we will do is put the performance-gathering code from the UPT into the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo and game so that users will be able to use those games to measure the relative performance of different system configurations. So there will be no UPT on your harddisk for now. A press review of UPT was not available to us because of Epic's limited ability to support more than a handful of the biggest tech sites right now.
