TVTool 9.6 introduces the PAL resolution 720 x 576 for Conexant and Chrontel chips. This resolution offers the best picture quality for PAL DVD playback, as these DVDs are mastered at 720 x 576 pixels. Consequently no scaling of the video data is necessary and each DVD pixel is transformed to one pixel on the TV screen. Another advantage is that this resolution does not need to be initialized, also it runs well on older cards (e.g. GF2-MX) as well. 768 x 576 usually makes problems because of bugs in the Forceware drivers.
