Wedbush Morgan Securities have updated their analysis on NVIDIA and ATI on Friday February 28th 2003. Below is an extract from the report.

"The company will introduce several other members of the GeForce FX family on March 6 in San Jose, CA. We expect the company to announce NV31 and NV34, which target the mainstream and value segments, respectively, and will both be manufactured using 0.13-micron technology. NV31 should replace the current GeForce4 Ti series, while NV34 should replace the GeForce4 MX series." (and as we know according to recent rumors, 2 cards based on NV31 core and 2 cards based on NV34 core will be announced. These are Geforce FX 5600 and 5600 Ultra and Geforce FX 5200 and 5200 Ultra).

"In addition, we expect the company to launch other products based on the NV30 core in 2Q FY04, including discrete graphics for notebooks (NV31-Mobile) and integrated graphics, as well as NV35, which should be a mid-life upgrade to NV30. The NV40, which we believe is a major enhancement of the NV3x family, should arrive in the second half of 2003 in time for the holiday seasons."

"On the other side of the camp, ATI, who has been enjoying the performance lead in the last six months, is set to introduce new products in March. We expect to hear product launch from ATI during the week of March 10 at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany, and it will likely be the launch of R350 to replace the current high-end R300. Similar to the past, we expect products targeting the mainstream and value segment to roll out a few weeks later."

"..We believe that the yield of R300 (0.15-micron) has been relatively good after six months of productions, and since R350 is an upgrade to the existing architecture, we believe the R350-core (for both enthusiast and mainstream markets) is also designed in 0.15-micron. For the low-end product, given the design work started later, we expect that it will shift to the 0.13-micron process to lower manufacturing costs..."

"...In summary, we found that NVIDIA?s NV30 (which we expect to hit the market in March) is expected to outperform ATI?s Radeon 9700 in the high-end graphics, but the difference is not overwhelming. We expect ATI to announce the next-generation high-end product (R350) in the next few weeks, thus eliminating NVIDIA?s temporary performance lead."
