However, Tero Sarkkinen, executive vice president of sales and marketing for FutureMark, said the joint statement indicated only that the two sides had begun talking over their differences, instead of feuding publicly. FutureMark has not rescinded the conclusions found within its audit statement, only revised the terminology used within it.
"So it's actually not a reversal at all," Sarkkinen said. "If you read it carefully it still says that Nvidia designed the drivers. If they contain 3DMark optimizations those are not allowed. What some people have referred to as cheats are now (considered) as slight optimizations. But any kind of application-specific behavior was not and is not allowed."
