MajorGeek says: Feeling nostalgic? I was and wondered what happened to the old Red Baron games from Sierra, a company who made a lot of games I loved back in the day. Well the good news is that it is available for free. The bad news is that it's sort of a pain to get it all working right. I suppose if you miss all the playing around we had to do to get a game working right then that's fine. You have to start out with the German version of Red Baron II and then apply a ?Super Patch? which adds English language and finally extract a third file which is the Red Baron II 3D game and overwrite a lot of files and folders. I did all the work for you and went through the hassle of doing all 3 installs in VMware, then moving the file to my hard drive to see if it would run all compiled and it did. So, here it is ready to extract and run. Simply extract the RedBaronII - MajorGeeks folder anywhere on your drive and make a shortcut or double click on Baron.exe. Every time you run the game, it will say it can't find the game CD. Told you it was old school. To run the game click on the upper right hand Iron Cross 6 times. You might see some weird rainbow colored graphics, mostly on the main screen as I saved the settings with running in a Window at 1024X768 as full screen seems to be where the issue lies. Multiplayer executables were removed as multiplayer no longer works because the servers are gone. Tested on Windows 7 so it should work on most operating systems. All this information is also in zip file under Read_me_MajorGeeks.txt.RRed Baron II is a computer game for the PC, developed by Dynamix and published by Sierra Entertainment. It is the follow-up to the immensely successful flight simulation Red Baron, released in 1990. Red Baron II was released in 1997. The game featured four modes of play: Fly Now (A quick combat mode); Single Mission which included several missions and a mission generator to create new ones; Campaign mode, which featured one of the only truly dynamic campaigns in a modern flight simulator and which replicated combat on the Western Front of Europe from 1916 through 1918; and peer to peer online play.
