Possible fix for slow boot time in Windows Xp

Published by

After I have seen many forums about this problem and in every one of them there wasn't a clear answer I discovered a possible fix that worked for me very well.

When I first installed Win Xp, the system was very fast for the boot time. After a few months I saw that the system took about two minutes to boot into Windows. At the forums I participated I have seen every possible solution but nothing worked for me. Some said that a USB device delayed the overall boot time, while others said just to download the bootvis file from Microsoft. Nothing worked for me but then I tried something on my own. The idea is to set the hard drive where you have installed Win XP to PIO mode. It worked for me and my boot time went from 2 minutes to 15 seconds. I know that everyone says that PIO mode is slower but I didn't watch any slow downs inside Win Xp. That's all. Hope this helps.
