Welcome to the Instant Messaging & Notifications (IM&N) beta newsgroup for the Office 11 Individual Evaluation Program (IEP). By integrating the technologies for Instant Messaging (IM) into Office, the goals are to facilitate real-time collaboration among users within the context of their work, and to provide customers with notifications of events and data that is important to them at the time and location that they need the information.
The IM&N technologies are tightly integrated with Outlook (Rules) and STS (Alerts and site member presence status) and available through the Shared Workspace taskpane in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
PowerPoint 11
PowerPoint is one of the original Office components and we are glad to include many enhancements in this newest version including, but not limited, to the following:
- PowerPoint Viewer
- Package for CD feature - Distribute auto-run presentations with Viewer on CD
- Thesaurus
- SmartTags
- Ink Annotations and Drawing (Tablet PCs)
- Digital Rights Management (DRM)
Picture Library beta
The new imaging technologies in Office 11 consist of a new Office application (Picture Library) as well a new type of list that can be created in SharePoint Team Server v.2 (STS). The technologies will focus on two major aspects of digital imaging:
- Sharing - using STS v.2 Picture Library lists, and through e-mail
- Basic Editing - using the Picture Library application
The imaging technologies in STS v.2 and the Picture Library application are tightly integrated with each other, but each technology can also be used without the other.
