NV30 (GeForce FX) Preview @ Beyond3D
Posted by Newsfactory, 11/18/2002 08:05 PM
Today NVIDIA unveil more details on their hotly anticipated chipset NV30, now to be named GeForce FX. Beyond3D has a preview, based on the details that we know at present! Here?s a snip.
Colour Compression - 4:1 Z compression techniques have been implemented in prior generations of hardware; however, Intellisample now extends that into colour compression. Again, a 4:1 loss-less compression technique is enabled on the pixel colour information. The process is enabled entirely through hardware and is transparent to the application. The biggest benefits of colour compression will be seen when FSAA is enabled! The preview still leaves a number of questions unanswered, however we are at the European launch today and we?ll be endeavoring to get answers to many questions.
