AMD's shipments are expected to trail the announcement of Intel's 3.06-GHz Pentium 4, which could be announced as early as Thursday. That chip will be Intel's first desktop processor to include hyperthreading, a feature which allows a compatible OSes and applications to break the work done in parallel execution chains, or threads.
