My friend Azrael did a small research about Mid end and low end history. Funny thing that these 2 have the biggest chunk of the video card sales, yet people seem to forget about them. It's interesting to see how new High End parts make the old counterparts the new budget solutions.
The positive side to this is that all the former high end cards will drop price eventually and become mid end cards and considering the raw power of cards like the ATi Radeon 9800PRO/XT and the Nvidia Geforce FX 5950 series that would be a nice upgrade for anyone looking for a great performance card for the next generation games coming out in the next few months.
