Microsoft Pre-beta Windows For AMD64 Available - For Resellers Only

Just found this information at TheInq, that resellers of AMD have received an invitation to join the pre-beta test for Microsoft Windows for AMD64. It's widely expected that the operating system for AMD's desktop, mobile and server 64-bit chips is likely to become available in the first quarter of next year.

AMD claims that the lack of Windows for AMD64 at its launch in September 23rd won't make a great deal of difference to end users, because its chip will run 32-bit code faster, and when the OS and other Windows apps become available, people will be able to upgrade then. At the same time, AMD is saying that the Opteron 246 processor is now available. And it's also promoting Eurosoft's PC Check diagnostic software for the AMD 64, in a mailing sent out to its dealers. To get the pre-beta, resellers have to fill out a form and send it to an email address at Microsoft. The pre-beta does not seem to be available for consumers quite yet.
