Microsoft Agrees to Distribute Windows XP Update Within 10 Days

Redmond, Washington, Aug. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp. said it plans to distribute an update of the Windows XP operating system within 10 days as part of an effort to comply with the terms of an antitrust agreement with the U.S. Justice Department.

Computer makers and end users will be able to selectively hide and display Microsoft programs, such as the Internet Explorer Web browser and Windows Media Player, Microsoft spokesman Jim Cullinan said.
