The fastest RW burner in the market today is designed and manufactured by Lite-On IT Corp. The drive (LITE-ON P/N: LTR-40125S) provides 40X maximum CD-R recording speed (Zone-CLV ); 12X maximum CD-RW recording speed (CLV); and an industry leading 48X CD-ROM reading speed. LITE-ON has outdone itself by raising the bar on CD ReWritable technology. The 40x12x48x is the fastest drive on the market. I've burned about 20 cd's since receiving the LITE-ON 40x CD-RW yesterday and so far I haven't produced even a single coaster. The Smart Burn technology works flawlessly and the only downside is that 40x certified CD-R's aren't yet available. However as mentioned before high quality 24x certified CD-R's should do just fine for the time being. If you are in the market for a new CD-RW drive or looking for an upgrade to your slower CD-RW drive the LITE-ON 40x12x48x is the king of the hill. A quick check on pricewatch places this drive in your hands for a mere $117 *(as of 2/27/02). This is only the second review earning the 3dXtreme Editor's Choice Award and a perfect 10.
