Let's just get that out of the way. It's bloated, it's confusing, and it ain't much to look at. But even worse to a Windows user, it wastes resources. For the most part, we need it when we need it but installing iTunes means you get a lot of wasted resources whether you're using it or not.Once installed, you can open the program from the Start Menu and you are presented with a simple interface with four tabs. The first tab is called Settings, and the next two promote the author's other programs, Tune Sweeper and TouchCopy. The final tab is an About tab with version, links to the author's website and a count of how many processes iTunes CPU Redux have run and been closed. For us, we're all here for the first tab, the Settings.It should be noted before we proceed that you will see the word "distnoted" appear and it's important you know what it is. Distnoted is not a real word, but it is an executable (disnoted.exe) associated with iTunes that can be found running on your computer as a process after iTunes is installed. Calendar, notes, contacts, you name it. If iTunes is running, you won't be able to sync your phone hence the "Leave Sync Server running if iTunes is open" option.MobileDeviceHelper Is very similar to Sync Server and relates to detecting when your phone is plugged in and syncing. Without it, you might not have your phone detected when you connect it and may not be able to sync your phone.iTunes has been such a necessary annoyance for so many of us for so long that all we want to ask Wide Angle Software is "where have you been all our lives?"
