Intel 'Springdale' To Use DDR400?

Spotted this @ Flexbeta: Korean DRAM maker Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., said today (February 19, 2003) that a number of DDR400 double data rate synchronous DRAM components and modules have passed a test set by Intel Corp. that confirmed they could be used with Intel's so-called 'Springdale' chipset for personal computers.

DDR400 is a specification for synchronous DRAMs that requires that they can transmit data at 400-Mbits/sec from a 200-MHz frequency clock signal. Samsung's Intel-endorsed DDR400 line-up now includes 256-Mbit and 128-Mbit components and a variety of 512-Mbyte, 256-Mbyte and 128-Mbyte capacity modules, Samsung said. Samsung did not say in what way it was possible for DDR400-compliant memories to fail the Intel test.
