Intel Pentium 4 Chips To Get 800MHz System Buses

Published by

I was just over @ The inquirer.net and I noticed they had an article posted called Pentium 4 chips to get 800MHz system buses, which has details of Intel's new Pentium 4 CPU with 800MHz FSB and the big announcement will come in Q2 of 2003 with Intel's new "Canterwood" 800MHz FSB/DDR 400 chipset which will then be its highest performing desktop chipset, supporting 800/533MHz FSBs, dual channel DDR400/333, and ECC memory, Serial ATA, and version 3.0 of AGP 8X.

But for now the most interesting post that the Inquirer has is the price cuts that Intel are planning for February 2003. At this point in time Intel will introduce a hyperthread-enabled 2.4GHz Pentium4. So I would say that VR-zone.com are right when they say that it is possible to Enabling Hyper-Threading On Current P4 and it's just a way for Intel to charge more for their hyperthread-enabled 2.4GHz Pentium 4 with the entry level price being a humble $178, up from the $163 price that un-hyperthreaded chip will be @ and not forgetting they also have prices up for Intel's new Pentium 4 3.20GHz 800MHz FSB hyperthreaded CPU.
