Intel's CEO Craig Barrett has warned everyone not to break open the Cristal champagne too soon, as it's too early to say whether the PC market is recovering.
In an interview with Dow Jones, Barrett described demand for PCs as spotty but Intel is buying 35,000 PCs for his own company. We presume they're not Athlon 64s.
China, he said, is showing clear signs of demand but he complained that US export controls limit what the firm could do on the mainland.
Those export controls prevent Intel from building a fab in mainland China, which it would otherwise do. Those laws aren't going to change any time soon, either.
