HP announced that it will discontinue the use of Intel Itanium microprocessors due to the limited demand in the market from its customers. The chip was first introduced by Intel Corp., world's largest chip maker, in conjunction with HP to lead the enterprise server market, but due to its delayed launch date, the chip slowly migrated into a high-end offering that only supports 64-bit applications.
