GeForce FX In January?

Published by

In contrast to our story Merril Lynch Says No GeForce FX Before April the german website TechChannel reports that Sparkle will start selling their cards in January. Sparkle told the german distributor Alternate that they will start shipping the cards in January to the german distribution companies. But this does not say that the card will be available to the public in January.
The price range for the card will be about 500 - 600 Euros but this price is not verified at the moment.

It rumours that the difference of the price is caused by two versions of the card, the "GeForceFX 5800" and "GeForceFX 5800 Ultra".
Traditionally the "Ultra" cards are higher clocked with 500 Mhz of core speed and 1 Ghz RAM speed (by using DDR II RAM) maybe using the "FX-Flow" cooling system.
We will see if this rumour turns out to be true. But onw thing is nearly clear, namely that Nvidia will miss the Christmas business this year and this can cause collapses in sales and give ATI the chance to react on the new Nvidia card.

"Maybe ATI is starting to develop a 9700 Pro card with DDR II RAM? That could become exciting which card will be the best. I would bet on the company with the three letters.", reads the TecChannel article. Discuss this report in our forums
