Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix Delayed:Activision has delayed the launch of Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, its upcoming first-person shooter sequel, until later this spring, according to a company representative. The game was previously scheduled for release this winter, but it will now be held back in order to give the developer more time to balance the random mission generator and refine the multiplayer mode, which was added late in the game's development. Online retailers expect the game to ship in early May.

UT MOD Tactical Ops Goes Retail: It seems another MOD from the communities surrounding modern FPS games - this time Unreal Tournament - has made it to the retail department. Tactical Ops will be renamed to: Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror and is developed by MicroProse. Producer Rafael Curulla said that specific work on the retail version has been in underway for almost three months. SP and MP parts will be implemented making use of the excellent bot AI of UT. The developers aim at a standalone release - Curulla said. The retail version will have unique and exclusive maps and skins, however. And yes, the mod will still be free. C&C: Renegade Gone Gold:Westwood Studios announced yesterday that its first 3D action game, Command & Conquer Renegade(tm) has gone gold and will ship to stores in North America February 26. Renegade is a fast-paced 3D action game set in the Command & Conquer universe. For the first time, players can experience the war between GDI and Nod up-close and personal as they fight it out on the ground, among the structures, vehicles and weapons made famous in the original C&C.
