A quote from the article:
The Final Fantasy series has managed, since the release of Final Fantasy VII, to become one of the most popular Japanese role-playing game series ever released. Following the release of Final Fantasy IX, which is, probably, the most traditional entry of the PlayStation era, the series has changed quite a bit: Final Fantasy X featured a linear experience and a new battle system and Final Fantasy XI broke conventions altogether, being an MMORPG. But it's with Final Fantasy XII that Square Enix went all out, combining the single-player experience the series is known for with features introduced in Final Fantasy XI. The result was a game that proved to be divisive, but impressive nonetheless. Last year's release of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on PlayStation 4 introduced plenty of welcome improvements to the game (some taken from the International version that has only been launched in Japan on PlayStation 2) and now PC players can finally see why Final Fantasy XII is such a different and unique Japanese role-playing game.
