I've got a P4 3.2 and a 9800 Pro and didn't notice a bit of difference on my system. I got it with the SP2 2126 release, though.
From what I can tell, unless you have the new nVidia card that does PS 3.0 - this doesn't do much.

yes new direct x versions are more for features not speed.

I dont know if speed has ever been increased at all.

Has anyone tried this with a GeForceFX card yet? I'm just curious if anything has improved for them. I remember that rumor last year about the next version of DX9 improving the performance on the FX series. Just wondering if there was any truth to that. I'm to chicken to test it myself.
