The Czech CD-R server in cooperation with cdfreaks.com (Liggy) has found a way to crossflash DVD recorder NEC ND-4550 to NEC ND-4551, which has support for LabelFlash (laser painting technology, similar but totally different from HP's LightScribe).
Although the utility (and of course Nero 6.6.1.3 with LabelFlash support) is not available to the public yet, you can now be sure, that this change really IS possible. There is also possibility (but without the evidence at the moment) that NECs ND-3550 and 3551 is also crossflashable to ND-4550/4551, because it has the same hardware inside.
