The Athlon 64 platform has been gaining support in the enthusiast sectors, thanks to it high performance in 32-bit applications and the promise of more to come with a full64-bit OS, however the consumer chips have been split across two different platforms. With the move to Dual DDR on the Athlon 64, both this and the higher end Athlon 64 FX are being unified on a single Socket 939 platform. Today Beyond3D takes a look at the performance of the Athlon 64 FX-53 and Athlon 64 3800+ on the new 939 platform.
