SOURCES CLOSE TO AMD's plans say that it won't clamp down on enthusiasts overclocking its processors, despite rumours on a number of Web sites that future chips will be clock limited. According to the source, AMD has not changed its stance on enthusiasts who overclock processors for their own enjoyment or pleasure.

He said that doesn't affect AMD's bottom line, and in fact perhaps encourages more chip sales. But he said that AMD will continue to clamp down on people overclocking or remarking products commercially, particularly companies who build PCs with overclocked parts and sell them at higher speeds than they're rated for. He said that even if AMD introduced so called "clock limiting" technology on its CPUs, it is virtually impossible to prevent overclocking in other ways.
