Spotted a press release @ AMD Japan. Apparently AMD developed an altered version of the Athlon XP processor for Hitachi to be used in the desktop PC "FLORA 330 silent model". The Hitachi PC is a small in size desktop computer designed to save space in your office or home.
The energy preserving process is accomplished because the processor efficiency is adjusted dynamically in compliance with the demand for the system. This technique saves up to 40% power. The low electric power consumption edition of AMD Athlon XP processor is produced @ the German Dresden Fab 30 - making use of copper wiring technology of 0.18 microns.
As for the "FLORA 330 silent model" shipment is scheduled to start on February 25th of 2002, estimated retail price is about 115,000 Yen. Source: AMD Japan
