AMD Heatpipe CPU Coolers Roundup

Published by

Just got word that RadikalMod have thrown up their lastest hardware roundup! which looks at AMD Heatpipe CPU Coolers from Aerocool DP101, DP102 and nPowerte NPH-2.

Heatpipe technology is not unknown among the PC enthusiasts, Zalman has created a very succesfull line for graphics card coolers and also a fanless HDD cooler. Now it reached CPU coolers as well, and since the first ones arrived to Hungary and to our test lab, we will test three heat sinks.

Before starting, let me introduce you about the workings of heatpipes.

The workings of the heatpipe: The pipe is filled with liquid that, due to lower pressure, evaporates at ~48-50°C. The liquid at the hot side of the pipe evaporates, and the vapor travels to the cold side of the pipe, where it condenses and gives its energy to the cold side of the pipe. The condesed fluid then sucked back to the evaporating section, and the cycle starts again.
