3DVelocity casts a rather belated eye over the recently announced A64 4000+ and FX55 from AMD.

AMD keep turning up the revs and the A64 somehow keeps responding, though it should be said that in the case of the 4000+ AMD have increased the L2 cache to 1MB rather than incresing the core frequency This means three of their CPU's (five if you include the two flavors of FX53) now run at 2.4GHz, there's the 3700+ with its 64bit memory controller, the 3800+ with its 128bit (dual channel) memory controller and only 512k L2 cache and finally the 4000+ with both a 128bit dual channel memory controller and also 1MB L2 cache.
