XP tray problems

hi.

i noticed that when i log in immediately after the XP log screen shows, some items that should appear in the tray are not there but when i look at the task manager, those programs are running.

One example is the "speaker icon" and the "remove hardware safely" icons. sometimes they're there (if i wait for several seconds before logging in the log screen) and they're not (if i immediately log in).

what seems to be the problem? thanks.

yeah i've had this problem before too...don't know what causes it but it becomes pretty damn annoying. think it's just a good ol' XP bug. i also have a problem where sometimes when i point to like the clock, it displays the info BEHIND the taskbar so i can't see it. they're probably just bugs and hopefully will be fixed in XP2 :-?

XP tray problems

Have you checked the taskbar properties and unchecked the hide inactive icons and or clicked on customise to see the settings for each icon?

Sorry if i'm teaching you to suck eggs, but its just a thought!

I have had the same problem with xp on both my machines.....seems to have something to do with default user/current user cause if I log off and back on without shutting down they all appear, even though they've all been running the whole time. may have to do with the install or personal desktop settings at the time of install. I even tried turning off the automatic login. i havent figured it out yet, but obviously a xp bug because im the only user on these machines. lets keep this post alive and see if someone has a fix or atleast an explanation. warp4ever.

It really annoys me when sometimes the 'tooltip' info for tray icons and start menu icons actually appear behind the start menu!
Lets hope Micro$oft fix this with SP2!

same problem for me, for the hidden icon (running on taskmanager) i think (imho) that could be something related to the winxp prefetch, i mean it first load the GUI but in the mean time it still load all the software (little trick that looks like "hey dude! look how i'm fast!").

but this is just my opinion nothing sure.

For the bal. tips hiddend behind the taskbar i have no solution, sometime it just happend. w8ing 4 SP2.....

I also have the same problem. Changing the properties for the task tray does not correct the problem. Tell you the truth, it's driving me nuts.
