you may choose the way over
properities of your LAN controller (see my network place)

and you may do yourself a favor and get rid of Norton or any other firewall related product ...

also what tool is that ? maybe just a wrong port ?
I never had any problems nor did I see someone having problems deactivating firewall ....
but I could imagin that norton does interfear with it

So what your saying is I should get rid of NORTON ANTIVIRUS?
What should I use instead?

I'm going to do a clean install this weekend.

I'm with Mertsch on this...

If you want to keep Norton on you can just shut down all of the auto start crap of it. This way you can still use it to scan individual files.

I've never used firewall or virus scanners they are all the biggest joke, you just need to be more cautious of what you open and where and whom you get items from.

I've been in IT for 11 years and have never had a single virus or have ever had a single problem with any of my pcs and have never used either of those pieces of crap (Firewall software and Virus Software) and built in Firewalls or Hardware Firewalls on routers etc. and even disable the Security Center all together in SP2. I turn it all off.

I use the google toolbar, the built in pop up stopper in IE or just use Firefox, and use Bazooka and Adware to scan pc for any critters and it's usually crystal clear. I know the OS and would know of unwanted processes and folders etc. So for anyone wanting to say well how would you know - I'd know...

An antivirus programm obviously can´t handle spyware.

Either you take care of what you install or use a different browser.

Do some regular scans with Spybot... but don´t blame Norton Antivirusfor a huge amount of spyware on your PC.
