Why the same score in 3D Mark 2001 SE with 2X and 4X AGP?

Folks,

Thanks for the insight with why Q3 may be freezing in 4X AGP, but not 2X AGP and this not happening in any other game. I've upgraded every driver possible and even went back down from VIA Tech's 410b AGP driver to 405c because my 3D mark score took a hit of 50 point. This next point may shed some more light on the Q3 lock-ups.

After upgrading the drivers, I set AGP transfer rate to 2X and restarted the system. To my suprise, I earned the same 3D Mark 2001 SE Score at 7100. This is the same score I get at 4X AGP! It seems my games don't suffer at 2X either. Why?

Could it be my Visiontek G4 Ti 4600 card is so fast that I'm peaked out so at 4X my system can't keep up, hence Q3 freeze up because eventually the graphics card pushes my system down (lock up)?

Crucial Specs:
Win ME, P3 933, 768 MB SDRAM (Micron CAS2) @ 133 Mhz, 60 Gig Matrox HD, Via 133A chipset, and VisionTek Ti 4600. 3D Mark 2001 SE = 7100

PS: If someone from NVidia reads this, maybe you can leak some new Win ME Drivers...

Because in the real world there just isn't much difference. Nothing to worry about. Besides you're more CPU limited than anything on that system.

It's all about limits of the rest of the hardware... your system will only run as fast as the slowest part, so as long as 2x agp can send more data than your cpu or ram ect. you wont see any performance difference between 2x and 4x.

95/98 and maybe SE had problems working with ram over 512meg (without a reg fix) but I'm pretty sure they fixed it in ME.
