Thing is my mobo doesn't support so like Mertsch said in my other topic I started about, which hard drive to buy, he recommended a specific controller

Quote:
(Silicon Image 3112 (2 channels) or 3114 (4 channels) chipset)

Well im getting the 2 channeled one but not too sure if this is the product im looking for so heres the link to it and tell me is it what I need.

Box Contains:-
1 x SATA Contoller Card (Silcom Image 3112 Rev.2 Chip) with Master & Secondary Channels
1 x SATA 7pin hard drive data cable.
1 x CD for drivers.

this one is the right for u ...
the 2nd one is just and adapter connecting a PATA disk to SATA ... but that will cause more trouble then you want ... also it just plain stupid buying such adapter instead of a real SATA disk ...

edit ... but you may ask first if there is an SATA power connector included ... also you can give ya HDD no power ... when you need to buy a SATA power connector ... look out for a Y cable .. this will clean thngs up when you maybe get a second disk

HDD never comes with cable ... it may be within the controller package ... since it seems to contain a data cable it realy would make me wonder if not a power cable ... but ... you can never be 100% sure Big Grin

and yes the cable will du ... also its not the cheapest one Big Grin if not to say quite expensive Big Grin

SATA Cables Always come with the MB's, BTW Silicon Image is the Best RAID/SATA Controller, as of now, OR nVIDIA RAID beats SiL RAID. Smile
