What Card?

What card should i get?
Leadtek A350 TD MyVIVO Geforce FX 5900 NV35 AGP-8X 128MB DVI With MyVIVO AGP ($753.75NZD)

or

ATI Original Radeon 9800PRO 128MB DDR 256bits w TV/DVI ($$865.91NZD)

I dont know what card to pick, i dont really think the 256meg ver is worth the money($1100 and $1000). As you can see the Geforce is $100 cheeper
I dont care about Radeon vs Geforce stuff i just want somthing that runs fast...(sound is not a big problem, as my case is a noisey beast any way) and i have seen/read so much stuff about both talking each one up.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of those cards. They will both run fast and are probably very similar in performance. In my personal opinion I would get the 9800Pro only because I own both a Ti4600 and a 9700Pro and I like the 9700Pro better.

Having owned both Ati and Nvidia I'd personally go for the 9800, but either are nice cards.

If you don't really need to upgrade right away it may be better to wait for the 9900's and 5900 Ultra's which should drop the 9800/5900 normal cards price down a bit more.

Bah - the 256Mb is not worth the extra money - get the 128MB 9800Pro or the older but cheaper and not much less performant 9700Pro

The new ATI Catalyst drivers are fast and stable and not cheating in benchmarks/games

If I were you I would take the GeForce.
Its cheaper, for one, you won't need the extra 128Mb, and you can also be sure that Nvidia's drivers, whatever happens, will ALWAYS be great. I like ATi a lot but I must say their drivers are not.... "all that" Tongue

Always great nVidia drivers ?
Cheating in Benchmarks and games to get more points/FPS
Reducing the picture/texture quality to get more FPS

Erm...
That is for what we call...benchmarks. If you buy a card just to bench it, then I for one am surprised. When I say great Nvidia drivers I mean the fact you can be sure that they work, that there aren't going to be big problems (hey you can play Half-Life with more ease on a GeForce 2 than on a Radeon 9700) and everyone knows that the Detonator series are better than the Catalyst ones. I would love to be able to say that on equal price the Radeon is better, but until I get totally flawless Catalyst drivers, I will stick with saying the Nvidia 5900 Ultra cards are better.

Remember, drivers are half of what you pay for in a Graphics card. Many people overlook that.

However for all the other cards my verdict is different, (unless maybe the 5800 Ultra) since all the others lack power, compared to their ATi counterparts.

Just to be the devils slave and go against everyone else... I have tried both ATI and Nvidia.. And personnaly of those two cards.. I would go with the GeForce FX simply because it performs better!

Link to prove: http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/200...de-12.html

However, I can also vouch that the Catalyst drivers have improved significantly in the last few months!

Personally i think the Ti4800 is the 2nd best Nvidia card out there, except for the REALLY top of the range FX card. The cut down FX cards dont seem to perform that well.

Get Leadtek A350 TD MyVIVO Geforce FX 5900 NV35 AGP-8X 128MB DVI With MyVIVO AGP. That's like the best graphic cards of all the graphic cards. Is that correct??? Please correct me if I am wrong. But GeForce FX 5900 Ultra is 128MB and ATI Original Radeon 9800PRO is also 128MB. So that might be your choice. I would preferr to buy Leadtek A350 TD MyVIVO Geforce FX 5900 NV35 AGP-8X 128MB DVI With MyVIVO AGP (nVIDIA).

nVIDIA might be better than ATI. nVIDIA is my best graphic cards. I would only buy nVIDIA graphic cards for my computer. I will never buy ATI graphic cards.

Tks.

@2Pac :

You should follow the graphics card comparisons/reviews a little

Especially in DX9 benchmarks or newer games all FX show a very bad performance and in other benchs/games both ATI and NV are on par with highs and lows on both sides

And ATI has better drivers at the moment at least without "Optimizations"(to not use cheats) in their drivers
