Weird intermittant system hang

At times my system will work perfectly for days, but then it will all the sudden refresh from 85Hz to 60Hz and the monitor goes blank. I have tried new drivers for the video adapter and display but it still does it on occassion. Any ideas where to look? Thanks!

Athlons, Lots of RAM and XP - MS has recently admited a fault hangover from Win 2000 - the classic Large Page Minimum bug still exists in XP.
Personally I have seen this problem affect XP more with Internet browsing
rather than in 3D games (where it mostly manifested in Win 2k). Nevertheless if you have an Athlon, 512MB of Ram or more, and are getting freezes then

Thank you very much!!

Installed XP Pro on my pc and couldnt get it to work properly, kept freezing solid after 2-3 mins, opening a web page in IE caused it to freeze too. Also have 2k pro and 98SE and both work fine.

I looked on AMD's site and got the impression this patch was for 2k Pro only so i sort of dismissed it as a possibility, worked though i can even play GTA3 in Xp now :-)

Thanks,

Mark.
