tvtool v8.0 problems

hey geeks!

i've been using tvtool since versions 5.x
any version of tvtool has always been working great here! Big Grin

...but i got problems with version 8.0 of tvtool, all i get is a black screen on TV... never had this problem before.

i'm using nVidia Detonators v43.45 and also used NVRefreshRate v2.1 to apply the correct monitor frequencies. (75Mhz is set on every resolution)

>> anyone know if this problem is related to tvtool itself ? :hmm:
>> or is it related to conflict between monitor frequencies you set and the TV that cannot handle it ? :hmm:

after many tries, i came to the conclusion that tvtool 8.0 is using the detonators refresh rate values while switching to TV.

so people who want to use tvtool 8.0 won't be able to use a 'refresh rate fix/tool'...

right now, i'm using detonators 43.45 + tvtool 6.8 (which does not complaint about detonators refresh rate values) with Nvidia RefreshRate v2.1a.

I don't know why all people use Refreshrate fixers .....

the most easy and comfortable solution is to modify the monitor driver .inf file .... just delete all values before 85 or 100 if u like . ready ... never got to complain about refreshrates again

do you use tv-out with your modified monitor.inf and is it working ? (if so i'll do that)

UPDATE :

I found an interesting webpage about 'Refresh Rate Fix' :
http://home.comcast.net/~kagamix2/xp-com..._rate.html

The guy is giving there many advices/solutions to bypass the refresh rate problem under Win9X/Win2K/WinXP but unfortunately,
there's no way right now to make sure you'll keep a proper tv-out after :

- hacking your monitor.inf
- using a refresh tool

So we're kinda lost here, the only things we can hope is that either :

- WinXP SP2 will integrate a 'Refresh Rate Fix' for Direct3D & OpenGL!! (I truely doubt of it).
- There's another way, unexploited yet, to specify the Refresh Rate while using tv-out...

For the time being, I'll stick to Detonators v43.45 + Tvtool v6.8 + NVRefreshRate 2.1a (tv-out works as well as DirectX/OpenGL 75Mhz). Big Grin

yes I do ... it is just that Part .....

Code:
[MD1998sl.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1600,1200",Mode1,,"30.0-98.0,85.0-160.0,+,+"
HKR,,ICMprofile,0,"MD1998sl.ICM"

see that 85 ? thats it there was a 60 before .... The good thing is that equal which game or app you are using you always have 85 .... and never had any problems with TV-Out cause TV is treated as different Monitor

edit: I am using this along with WinXP then XPSP1 and now XPSP2 .. no problem at all

thanks for your great support guy!

all i need is to get a 'working .inf' for my monitor then i'll use your trick to modify the .inf :x

1) i tried to use a hacked_monitor.inf a guy distributed over the net but winxp does not accept it while pointing at it (monitor >> change driver).

>> do i need to use a special monitor.inf for my monitor ?
(i'm using "default plug & play" monitor driver under winxp)

2) if answer to question 1) is 'yes' :

>> where is located the generic "default plug & play" monitor.inf driver under winxp ?

UPDATE:

thanks a lot! Big Grin
i finally found a .inf for my "Proview 769N" and i did what you advised me to change in the .inf and BINGO!! Tongue

without any refresh tool, i'm playing at 75 Mhz and i can fully enjoy tvtool v8.0 Smile
thanks again!!
