The site is GREAT the way it is, I check it out every day ....

Though one thing I would like is an RSS feed that Vista's RSS Feed system can read. It can't read klips that you have now...

Of course, if I'm being blind and its already here, then please re-direct me :o

For the most part this site is very nice. I found it by mistake and use it mostly for news or the future like the R600.

The only change would be more color contrast so that everything does blend together. Other than that great job.

Sincerely,

Horas

OK guys.. good job at most blatantly ripping other sites' content. In the past, you have often done that without giving the credits. Everybody reading IT news on a broader level can tell the 5 tech sites of which you used to rip 80% of your news... amazing how you got away with it over the years..

Cheers

Man, you are right. We are doing nothing else than 99,9 % of all enthusiast websites.
And of course, there are 5 Top sites everybody is using as sources. Btw, these top 5 websites getting there news from news agencys. dpa, reuters, cnet....are there more ?
But haven´t you noticed the other, round about 40 - 50 websites we visit every day to find some nice scoops ?

I don t have the requirement to be on of the top sources. Cause you can t reach that as an enthusiast website. But i have the requirement to collect the most interesting news which are posted a day and give the visitors an good overview what happens in IT.
So that the visitors don´t have to visit 5 or more sites to be up date. One stop should be enough and i would be happy if this stop would be W2s.
Ok, i could do something what other websites do: Collect news from Top 5 sources, creating own words and post them without sources. Than this website looks professional, but they are not. But this is unfair, in my opinion.
So i grap the news bits and send user to the main article.
And btw, on the other hand i am posting for a german website which is also a reliable print magazine. where do you think they got there news from ?....................
Cheers,
Have a nice day.

Btw, guys, if there s some content missing on w2s, tell me what you are missing.

Since i am visiting warp2search on a regular basis, i think i should also post my comments on what i like and what i do not like that much.

Pros:
- good content mixture (hardware vs software)
- update frequency: maybe not daily (seems to have improved in the past few weeks) but quite enough to an update 2-3 times the week.

Cons (it's always easier to point out whats bad):
- Website: outdated, usability leaves a big space for improvement (comment system, links to external sources is accessible most of the time on the article detail page)
- Advertising: Banners are something i can live with, pop ups rather not. Reminds me of geocities and warezkiddies pages. leaves a very bitter taste of unprofessionallity.
- Backend: Seems unstable, from time to time the front page is not accessible (due database issues afair). Same applies to this forum here.

I would recommend changing / updating the Backend-System which brings some more "web2.0" features and maybe having a look at other hosting offers. Maybe you could get rid of the aggressive popups by moving to a cheaper root-box in Germany which start at 30 EUR/Month with plenty of traffic (either unlimited or something like >1TB)

Let me know if i can give you a hand with the hosting stuff. It is closely related to my daytime job and i might be of help to you here.

Bells and whistles mostly. Web 2.0 is no different to Web 1.0 - just another buzzword for thinks like DHTML (today AJAX), Content-Mashups (i.e. integrating content from youtube, google maps etc)

Those recycled technologies can be used wisely to greatly improve the look and feel of warp2search - especially the usability. It is not a must to have, but if a backend system already brings such nice dynamic features along - hell yeah!

and i always thought: make it clean, easy and simple. only pure news :-) well, what you are saying is not bad and you are right.
but it isn t that easy to improve slightly  Just at the moment i am sitting down and my head burns how to improve. i am testing and checking different color themes but i am missing the right *click *fg

Greetings from Somerset (UK)

I really do not know where you find the time to do all the reading and sifting - incredible !

This is the only site I use for news searches - it saves so much time.

Whatever you decide to do will be fine.

regards

This is the only tech site I visit that requires my pop-up blocker to be turned back on temporarily, so I hardly visit it any more. Plus there are a lot of scam advertisements on your site. It's annoying.

I have been visiting your site several times a day for many years, I rate as the best site of it's type on the Net.
I find the information about driver releases of particular interest.
Also as mentioned above, updates at the weekend would be nice.
Keep up the good work, we all appreciate it.

This is a great news site, I come here practically every day.
However the Forums suck royally.

They are forever being hacked so I dare not create a new account.
I left your Forum a few years ago due to Mertsch being at the height of his arrogant behaviour.
He is such a knowall big head that is not always right, I cant stand him.
He can have this forum for himself, he helped contribute to its demise :)

I would like to see a standardised feeds page. Currently, Warp2Search has feeds with DTDs which are not compatible with some RSS readers. It needs to be at least compatible with IE7's own feed reader which it doesn't support feeds with DTDs.

Of course, I could just get a reader that supports DTD feeds, but by having a widely supported one, you would get more people to be able to read your feeds, and those with other readers would still be able to see your feeds anyway. I really want to see a widely supported W2S feed.

I was having a look for todays posts in the forum and cant find a link to show them.
I may be mistaken but my eyes cannot see a link for it.

It either needs to exist or be more prominent.
