256 SDRAM

Geforce 2 MX 200
Win Xp
Could someone tell me why is my GTA 3 is running slow?
Sometimes the fps gets realy low, could that be because of my video card?

Afraid it is because of your card however you could always try putting GTA3 in software T&L with 3D Analyze -http://www.cidiverte.it/giochi/pc/gta3/3DAnalyze.zip Warp2Search posted about this a while ago.

Have you tried installing the latest patch? It disables all the stupid newspapers and rubbish that float around and gives a good boost to fps.

Also make sure "motionblur / light trails" are off, they take a huge speed hit.

I don't think you can turn the motion blur off.

But my machine too!

Athlon 1.3GHz
32MB GF2 GTS (300/380, Det 29.42)
512MB SDR-SDRAM
Windows XP Pro

IMHO, its graphic is lousier than NeverWinter Nights, Medal of Honor, RTCW, Max Payne and lots more, but it only runs at about 20 to 30 fps on my machine, how come?

I diasbled the rain, papers and running it at 800*600*16, but still slow, even i drop it to 640*480*16, only an increase of 2 to 5 fps :o

this is because your card/sys is not quite up to scratch to push gta3 60fps+ all of the time follow the instructions in the prev threads before this .....
and it does slow down occasionally on my rad 8500 1.5ghz TB sys but i have it at 1280*1024 sometimes on 1024??? cos its a hard game to run smoothly :(

CHECK THIS :> have you installed the patch where you can put all the cd sounds on to your hard drive(/music dir -inside gta3 root) it can boost up speed because it doesnt access cd for tunes?but say goodbye to hard disk space lol ive used it and it jerks alot less .try it goodluck but id suggest a new processor... helps alot with this game

The game is always recording twenty secsonds, or so, of your gameplay.
Grand Theft Auto would run much faster if there was a way to disable 'replay'.

Their system is fine, its the graphics card thats the problem, I run it at full speed with no slow-down on a PIII-850 and an ELSA Gladiac 920.

Copy the audio folder from the second CD to the Hard drive then apply the no cd crack from either http://www.megagames.com or http://www.gamecopyworld.com

Coding of GT3 was not with the best design, in fact it sucks!

Even on my playable spec:

T-Bird 1.4Ghz@1.51
Radeon 8500 64mb (300/300)
Crucial 512DDR Ram
Abit KR7A 133r

It still runs really lounsy in most parts. I lowered everything down, optimized my setting, not as smooth as the PS2 (even it won't compare to my PC)

i think 256mb of will not help as xp is resource hungry, so more ram is needed than for example if u were using a 9x os or even windows 2k. sdr ram is also much slower than ddr for 3d apps etc.

the processor is also not ideal, as if you got one of the latest agp cards to improve 3d performance, that would then become a bottleneck.

but the ge force 2mx is well past its best in my opinion. what other games do u play and what kind of 3d performance do u get in those??

ga 7vrx gigabyte
hdd 40 gb/7200
gforce 4-4200/128mb

If you want to play smooth without any comment of the game just buy a compie with my spesification.
If you don't have any money just steal your daddy wallet or robe a bank...
Dont be so silly talk to much in this forum
