I own one and have used it since it's release and it is no louder than the case fans I have running...

I also use a headset when playing games so I don't hear anything anyway...

But NO it is not that loud...

You can hear when it kicks in but it's only a few decibels louder than a normally loud case fan...

whats a 'normally loud case fan'?... and since the decibel scale is exponential, even a few decibels can ean a big difference
