Has anybody here played Return to Castle Wolfenstien?

I think its gotta be one of the best first person shooters ever.

Besides

Max Payne Smile

Does anybody else agree with me?

I agree with coyote, I wasn't very impressed by the zombies in RTCW, it ruined the game, shooting nazis was enough for me Smile

Half-Life is the best first person shooter so far IMO.

Half Life hands down
but max payne is a awesome game regardless
RTCW2 wasnt that good of a game,
BF1942 is a sweet game,

James Bond Goldeneye 007 on n64 is the best game of all time for 1st persons! (console based)

But all time best definatly Half Life, because of how large of a range of a game it was and all the things you could do, as opposed to all the other engines and mod's made from and for it

AthlonXP 2800+ Barton
MSI K7N2-L Nforce2
BFG 6600GT OC
1.5GB DDR333 Dual Channel
16x Pioneer DVD. 48x Lite-On RW.
2x Seagate Baracuda 80GB
Audigy 2ZS w/ 5.1 speakers

i didnt care for RTCW for the weapon dynamics... they just didnt feel right.

Medal Of Honor rocked... Until i saw this

Deus Ex (single player)
Tribes 2 (multiplayer)
Theif 2
System Shock 2 (liked deus ex much better)

their a bit dated... but those are my favs.

Ya I know

I agree totally with the zombie cripe in Return to Castle Wolfenstien but other than that I liked it.

I dont know about half life though I've never played it.

I had Deus Ex but it was almost like half of the game. It was some sort of huge demo thing. I cant wait for the new one to come out.

Goldeneye

I myself have an N64 and Goldeneye. Thats got to be my favorite shooting game for any console. I really like the multiplyer especially since I always win LOL

I bought 007 Nightfire for the pc. Its not bad but its really easy and the story line is kinda cheesy. The cool thing in the game is that if you put on you're special goggles that can see into buildings and stuff you can look at the girls and you can see there thongs and stuff. Its very funny LOL

Oni Pc

Have any of you people played Oni for the PC? I have the game and I thought it was a pretty big letdown. The only thing I liked was the fighting some of the moves were pretty cool. The graphics sucked big time the people faces were cartoon couldnt they make them a bit 3D at least.

Has anybody here ever played SOF? I loved that game. It was so funny how you could shoot there limbs off and stuff. I had SOF 2 but it was way to hard and they got rid of alot of the goar. Sad

wolfenstein

i haven't been able to kill the big guy at the end, tried numerous times but finally gave up so that was kind of a bummer but otherwise not too bad.

The Bad:
Playing a mute isnt my idea of fun. Therefore I did not like RtCW, and consider it one of the lesser FPS of modern time. Mindless shooting without dialogue is like going back to the GALAGA days.

Unreal 2 came out as an dissapointment. Probably becouse the ending trashed the only bit that held the game above mediocre scores.

Just becouse Half-Life was the first FPS to have a story, doesnt make it the best. It have been replaced in the timeline a long time ago.

Anything from ID. Sure, they have decent engines, and I guess thats what their games are - an engine. Many good games have been created out of their engines.

The Good:
On the good side, I say "The Academy Award Winning" Deus Ex will be difficult to compete with for a long time.

No One Lives Forever 1/2 got all the theme I look for in FPS'es, with characters you just gotta love.

Soldier of Fortune II contains a decent story together with memorable heroes and villians.

Clive Barkers Undying scared the **** out of me more than once, and got a really well written storyline behind it. Only thing that spoiled it was the access to heavy weaponry early in the game.

Medal of Honor, and more importantly - spearhead, contained all the juice I want of a World War game. I loved both.

Aliens VS Predator II, love love love. But I cheated past the end of the predator game due my unnatural phobia of eight legged freaks that attach themselves to my face.

Duke Nukem 3d. If you disagree, im gonna rip of your head and **** on your neck.

Jedi Knight 2. A blast. Loved every part of it.

Max Payne. Not a FPS, but it belongs here.

Operation Flashpoint, the real war, just like it should be.

JemyM has a good taste in FPS games I can see.

Agree on all games except Undying and Deus Ex, heard they were good, but I never fell for them.

For Undying, I can understand. It is a bit screwed with being to much of a shooter. I liked the story, the characters, the theme. Gameplay is not the best.

For Deus Ex, I know more than a few that would bet their own mother on voting that game as the best game ever (all cathegories). Smile
The bad part is probably that you must play through a couple of levels before you are truly sucked in. The first map is little more than a tutorial really.
