Then you didnt make it through the tutorial Wink

No wonder you didnt 'get it'. The storyline is the most complex I have seen in a computer game. At least from games outside japan.

I know it's not state-of-the-art but to me, Giants: Citizen Kabuto was/is one of the most entertaining games I've ever played. If you haven't played it, it's a FPS with a twist. You have to collect resources, build bases, feed and heal your troops and you have an arsinal of weaponry that would make any arm-chair general jealous.

To add to the fun you can play as 3 different characters ... all with unique abilities and access to different weapons and skills. In that sense it has RPG attributes and there are actual missions you have to accomplish to advance thru the game (almost like puzzles at times). If that weren't enough, the dialog and mini-movies between the various stages of the game is hilarious. Sure ... it's Australian humor ... but they are our brothers in arms.

In combat mode you can fight hand-to-hand or with a vast of array of weapons. The graphics are pretty good for such a dated game and just getting it to run smoothly was a hardware challenge that only now is being met easily. It also has full EAX support which gives it great sound quality and fairly impressive 3D effects.

So ... you get to shoot, slash, explode, tornado, drop bombs from a helicopter, rain down terror on your enemies, stomp, eat and otherwise destroy just about everything in site ... and be highly entertained all at the same time. What more could you ask for?

Later.

GCK was a blast, however, my experience was stopped when a bug did not allow me to finish a level. I did not want to start all over again, so I just left.
It contained elements from all existing genrees, such as RTS, RPG, FPS etc.

The only time I ever had problems with Giants is when I was running ATi graphics cards. As soon as I switched to NVidia, all those "bugs" went away (buggy drivers is more like it). Now I'm back to using ATi products again and can STILL play Giants from start to finish (no bugs, nothing but fun). No idea if the 1.4 patch helped the game or not but I did apply every patch that came out.

There's nothing wrong with the game in it's current form as long as it's updated with the current patch. There are no "bugs" in the game. The bugs are (or were) in the video drivers. By the way, there is a little "mod" out there that allows you to play ALL levels whenever you want and in whatever order you want. There are no cheats though so if you can only play games with "cheats enabled", this game is probably not for you.

Half Life hands down
but max payne is a awesome game regardless
RTCW2 wasnt that good of a game,
BF1942 is a sweet game,

James Bond Goldeneye 007 on n64 is the best game of all time for 1st persons! (console based)

But all time best definatly Half Life, because of how large of a range of a game it was and all the things you could do, as opposed to all the other engines and mod's made from and for it

I agree, Goldeneye is sitll one of my favorite games of all time...the weapons, the music, the characters...priceless.

SOF2 multiplayer is also incredible, I love it.
Perfect Dark is also good, as is UT (the original)

Perhaps you are illiterate and unable to read the topic. Start another if you so desire.

While I played it, it was still 1.0. And the thing that happened was a script bug that made a certain building indestructable. Some kind of event was supposed to happen prior to being able to destroy the building, and that event was never played.
The only building left of a base I was supposed to destroy.

Understood. I don't recall any script bugs in the early days of that game ... although I remember other "features" that weren't quite up to snuff. At any rate, if you still have it (the game CDs), try and download the latest patch for it (I.4 I think) and give it another try. I've played it from start to finish (no cheats) probably 10 times over the past few years and for me it's one of the best games I've ever played (if not THE best). Also, there are some pretty good walk-throughs available that might help if you get stuck.

Later.
