Terratec exits the Graphics card business

Just found this info over the german winfuture.de

German

Quote:

Terratec exits the Graphics card business
The Nettetaler Multimedia multimedia-Schmiede TerraTec electronics withdraws itself from the diagram map business. the new boards of the two manufacturers ATI already announced and nVidia are taken up thus no more to the TerraTec Portfolio.

Heiko Meertz; acting partner, brings it on the point: "us in this segment by the chip suppliers air is extracted for breathing. ATI and nVidia "fight each other" and want to be recognized independently as marks!" There no more chance would remain in the market, thus Meertz for independent of fire such as TerraTec - in addition, Herkules in the past -. "if we products under the name TerraTec platzieren, must be able to affect we these also." This was no longer possible end the conclusion with the diagram map suppliers, so Meertz. "there then a parting is compelling!"

Naturally existing customers were cared for further, promise the managing director. And adds: "whether this development is taken up positively in the diagram range by the trade or customer, can only the future show." Because structural problems, if only ATI go and nVidia as diagram marks into action, are pre-programmed, like that Meertz. "we are waiting times in all peace!"

After two years diagram map business draws a positive balance nevertheless to Meertz: "for us the diagram boards were an additional entrance option into the Gamer world." Mystify fire and the remaining Gamer products remain uninfluenced by the parting from the diagram map segment. Existing products such as mice, CaseModding, Headsets or water cooling are continued to force under the name "Mystify".

i think you got mixed up. It says nowhere that Terratec is closing down - just that they wont supply the new line of gfx cards.
Terratec makes some good soundcards and other devices.

You forgot to translate the first sentense "TerraTec steigt aus dem Grafikkarten-Geschäft aus" which basicly means that "Terratec exits the Graphics card business" - if my rusty german is up for the job.
the last few sentenses also speaks pretty clear against the title "TerraTec is no more !!!"

so try to keep control of your outbursts ;P

you should edit the title.

Well, Terratec doesn't agree with the current situation of the market? They are right in what they say about brands. I myself mostly distinguish between ATI and NVIDIA, not between Creative, ASUS, Terratec and so on. Times have changed and now these companies just produce graphics boards by reference design. But I don't see a problem in it. Far from it, it is easier to decide what to buy because the differences are minimal.

Well I hope the new Terratec optical mice are better than the Terratec Mystify Razer boomslang 2100 ball mouse. The build quality is total crap. The first one developed an unacceptable habit of refusing to work in one plane until u jiggle it about. U can't play a fps like that. The second (RMA), was going the same way, also it had a rocking problem. The mouse rocked and movement was produced at the mouse cursor when pressing fire. Total crap as I said before. I would be weary of buying another Terratec mouse until I had tested it in a shop, and never the boomslang 2100. :finger:

When I hear the name Terratec I think of soundcards first. I dunno if they are still producing soundcards but I had a soundblaster compatible soundcard from Terratec some time ago. I didn't even know they produced graphics products. Wink
