Strange problem with a QDI Kudoz 7X

My problem is the following: windows xp freeze (3-5 seconds) followed by a screen blink (similar to vga signal blink when you change monitor's resolution) and then windows xp is unfroze, running stable again. It only happens once in a while, can run perfectly during 2 days.

I have a Kudoz 7X with a 2000 xp, 512mb ddr 333, and an abit siluro fx 5200. I tried to swap the ram, same problem. CPU is not overheating. PCI Delay Transaction is disabled in bios because I have a sb live (the famous via bug). A friend told me it could be the abit siluro getting too hot and that I should replace the stock heatsink by a good heatsink+fan. Abit would put a shit stock heatsink? I'm a bit clueless about this weird problem...

P.S: I have all latest via drivers, gfx drivers, latest mobo bios etc. installed :hmm:

The abit siluro fx 5200 has passive cooling and the heatsink looks very small for such a card... I have 2 hdds, 80gb WD 8mb + 40gb seagate

I've just found some interesting url:

http://www.nordichardware.com/reviews/gr...x.php?ez=3

"I'm sad to say that the passive cooling on this board does in no way perform as good as the one on Sapphires. The heatsink gets incredibly hot just after a short while"

Gonna swap the heatsink with a copper one + fan, and also buy a 350 or 420W psu Big Grin I hope it works...

P.S: I get no blue screen when puter freezes, it just recovers from the freeze after the screen blink.

that maybe the solution ....
I am silent PC freak .... but there are two things .....
passive is in my eyes stupid .... but loud cooled, too

just a small fan running at 5V does every job very well ... sure it is a bit hotter then with high speed fan but only a bit ....
and compared to passive is is wayyyy cooler ..... its equal how much air flows if just air flows .... so maybe it helps just putting a small fan on it .
