These is nice but the question is

WILL X-FI SOUNDCARDS ONLY SUPPORT PCI EXPRESS MOBOS ???????

i hope not...
Forcing to buy a new motherboard just for having a new soundcard is not a nice choice

The official site does not say anything about requirements

- ASUS GEFORCE 8800 ULTRA
- 2.0 GB DDR 3200 (2x1GB T1)
- AMD64 X2 4400@???
- Abit AN8-32x
- HD 300GB + 500GB
- Creative X-FI Fatal1ty FPS
- Ms Digital Pro with Logitech MX Revolution

USB...

This is to the PCI-E remark... Most likely it will only come this way and you are right so now you have to get a new motherboard. I swear they all work together so that this is always the case.

Actually though I think you may see a USB external version with the X-FI...

Didnt read this?
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,15...719,00.asp

Quote:
Work began on the X-Fi about three-and-a-half years ago, and at that time, PCI-Express (PCIe) was nowhere near ready for primetime. Couple this design window with the huge installed based of systems with PCI slots, and Creative's decision to make the X-Fi a PCI-based part is understandable. According to Creative, PCIe is certainly on the roadmap, but the first X-Fi products will be PCI offerings to address the wider mainstream market

no, not really..

YES !!! That's good news Big Grin

So there will be PCI versions at first releases

That's logical and fortunately Creative "get it"
Most people out there still even now do not have a PCIe mobo and do not plan of getting one so soon...

I will buy a X-FI PCI version and a new R520 AGP or 7800Ultra AGP when they arrive in stores

I do not intend changing my mobo so soon until Dual Core CPUs become a Standard

Blahhh
I do not care about Dolby Digital Encoding
I am not in the Music-professional business or a BIG Music fanboy for caring so much about that feature...

Soundblaster cards are the BEST GAMING CARDS out there that's why i am buying

X-FI will be the best performer with EAX 5.0 support and no soundcard will support that and no other be even close in it's performance for games so i will buy it

For music creators there may be better cards to buy from X-FI
but for PC gamers that wants the fastest performance like me X-FI is the KING

Im sortof looking forward to X-Fi..
Apparantly its the first new chip since the Live! came out, everything since has be derived from that..
The article I posted in my last post tells of massive power compared to Audigy2 and some interesting features.
Plus BF2 demo already has a special setting for X-Fi (software, Hardware, X-Fi), so it SEEMS software support isnt going to take long to show up, concidering the first title is here, while the hardware isnt yet..
And since my Front Right output died on my integrated audio, I thought I would pick up a soundcard sooner or later.. might just wait for this..

no, not really..

yeah that rocks ...
soundblaster is the king of gaming cards ...
there are many ppl. going to buy a 100$ more expensive Graphics card for 5 FPS while they can buy 2 Audigy 2 for this money and dow have awesome sound AND more FPS

sure the audigy drivers could be better .... or lets say less complicate ...
I never ever had any problems with drivers but you got to know how to handle them ... e.g. upgrading drivers

and they do not publish minor software updates ... only on retail CDs that sucks ass

but since buying a Live! back 1999 or even earlier there is no option in case of sound
