Slower 3dmarks when dsl modem is on???

I have a 1900xp with kt266a (soltek) 512ddr winxp.
g4 ti4600 get about 10240 to 10500 on 3d marks.

(Stock settings)

I have DSL and have a linksys router.

I am the only one on the router accept for the X-box not (3dmarking with the Xbox up)

I had a linksys USB nic but got rid of it and threw in a 3com nic instead.

Any tweaks or settings I can use?

Also why does xp set up an Internet connect gateway. Can I set to just be a
LAN connection to the router.

Any help would greatly appreciated!!!!

is your dsl modem USB or PCI? or connects via an etherenet card??
mine has a built in router and I hate it. I can't really game with it on, its impossible to shutoff the freakin firewall, and it refuses to open anyports, either via its http APP or telenet. I'd get a newone but DSL modems ARE very rare in the US. There usualy provided by your ISP, and MY isp a bunch of local idiots. anyway if its USB or PCI, its quite possible it uses the CPU to do some of its IO processing, meaning its a cheap DSL modem, and your ISP hates you too Sad
