Restricted from Internet Options

When I try to open the Internet Options from Internet Explorer, I get the message:

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

This is funny because I'm the administrator and the only person who uses my computer. I've read posts about people getting this message when doing something in Outlook, but that's not the case here. How do you take the restriction away?

are you logged in as Administrator or as your self with administrator privilages?

I've seen shit like this happen with mine

I fixed it by going into XP as Administrator in safemode and resetting my Named account to restricted and then back to administrator.

Hey ECO!

I was googling for a fix for the same weird problem...i have NO IDEA how it happened, but mine was restricted as well.

Had to register to pass along the info, but i found a VBScript that'll fix yer problem and wanted to share it:

http://www.dougknox.com/security/scripts...ptions.vbs

(or go here: http://www.dougknox.com/security/)

just doubleclick on it and reboot your machine...fixed mine. (Says it's for Win9x, but i'm running 2000 and it worked. If your running XP, i dunno. worst case scenario, read the .vbs in notepad and edit the registry keys it mentions.)

Janus was also correct about getting to it through Help->Contents & Index->Options->Internet Options.

good luck!
