Remembering the Amiga's glory days

Browsing the old News from techreport.com i found this nice article

Headline: Remembering the Amiga's glory days

Quote:
Eight years ago, PC's were boring beige business boxes, and many computing enthusiasts got their kicks out of funny little "home computers", generally one-piece systems hooked up to televisions or cheap monitors, from companies like Atari and Acorn. The king of 'em all was a colorful little computer from Commodore called the Amiga. With a custom chipset at its core and a Unix-like multitasking OS, the Amiga delivered stereo sound, smooth animation, and high-color displays.

i still got my amiga, pity but its not seen the light of day for years

and i still think the good ole' amiga had a better "workbench/windows" enviroment

atleast you could just delete the "drawer" and that was the proggie uninstalled
and a quick flip of the switch to power down, god those were the days

funnily enough I found my old amiga 600HD in my loft a few weeks ago.

It was brilliant I can remember many a day where I'd just sit about infront of it playing classics like prince of persia, frontier elite, operation wolf and the like.

Also i loved Moonstone, Beast, Fire Force and best of all EPIC.

I had a look around my little store room yesterday and managed to dig out a huge floppy disc box full to the brim with games. best of all I found my favourite one of all........Another World.

Awesome game I found a version of it for the PC and have been playing it all day.

lol who needs a geforce fx 5950 or Radeon 9800 pro for this baby lol.

yeah.....that was the best of Amiga/c64

u didn´t need to upgrade
ok u could buy a RAM extention (512kb)
but u didn´t need to buy bigger HD or GFX
the newer Amiga had HD but i didn´t like the newer
A500 was the best Amiga ever

I dunno my A600, which had a 25mb HD, was brilliant.

You didn't notice that it had the HD unless you started the system without a disc in the drive.

And even then it was handy for keeping workbench and my favourite games on instead of having to pull the whole disc box out and search through 'em all.

besides the later amiga games sometimes required you to have a HD because they were so large.
