Geniuz I used Nero 5.5.9.9. to burn my images and redhat install without any problems at all. Have to looked for another mirror to down disk 2 from? Hope you get it sorted out as this new version kicks a--. I installed it this morning and it detected and setup every piece of hardward on my pc. In fact, using it now to surf the net and answer the post. Good luck my friend.

Used Nero 5.5.9.14 to burn them on a Cyberdrive 32x here, and 4 people have installed off my cd's so far without a problem.

Maybe the images you got where corrupt? what is the url of the mirror you got them from?

Maybe it's your burner, or a media problem. I once got a 100-pack of CDR's, none of them worked, manufacture problem.

You stated 3 downloads but this is not necessary if you check the MD5 sum with the correct ones provided by the mirror servers. First make sure this sum is ok then you know the download is correct and there is no need to re-download your ISOs. Have you checked that the second CD does not need a 700MB+ CD? I know this is true for Mandrake 9. Perhaps they do not require 700 but will do a slight overburn at 650. It may be that your CD-R/RW does not handle overburning well. This is only a theory but worth checking in to (make sure your CD burner has the latest firmware).

Have not downloaded this to test or inspect the files. Will do so now...

Geniuz,

Before you do anything else, especially suffer one more download of the ISO, check the MD5 sum of the ISO you have to the list of correct checksums. At least this way you can remove any doubt of if you have the correct file downloaded. This will leave your local 'translation' from ISO to CD as the problem.

Hint: get the MDSUMS file directly from Red Hat.

Reason: This file has the true MD5s according to the original source. Sometimes mirrors do not verify their copy, run Md5 sum and publish their own sum. This, of course, defies the purpose but it has been known to happen.

ie:

RH MD5= abcd
mirror download (corrupt)= abce
mirror publishes MD5= abce
you get abce= this verifies that you have the corrupted version but comparing it to the mirror's md5sum list would make you think it is correct.
