Radeon problems

I bet this is the x time you've seen this type of post but...I feel doomed here.

I have got my Radeon 9700 pro. I'm very happy with my score of 4116 3dmark03 on default settings for everything. I'm also very happy with my big framerates. Basically I should be really happy. Or should I ?

First of all playing counter-strike is NOT lag free now. I sometimes hit 60fps, going down to 10 in some cases, wheras even my geforce mx used to hit 100...

Also pressing alt-tab, or escape (for menu) gets me a black screen and it forces me to reboot my PC...

Second is Simcity 4. This game I can't even start due to errors in my "graphicrules.sgr" file that many radeon owners seem to get...

And last is my monitor. It seems to flicker a lot.

Otherwise this card really is brilliant. I dont regret having it at all, but would be extremely grateful for some help...

About the refresh rate....you need to set the refresh rates higher. You can't just do this in the normal way sometimes. You also need to change some settings on the dialog box for each monitor. (Display Properties > Displays Tab > Click on "Monitor" (right above the pic of the monitor)).

Then set the dialog with the correct settings. Then the refresh rates that you set will take effect correctly.

read my post regarding Half life.
its not your card I have a 9800 pro and it does the same for me.
you should run the game in D3D mode (its not smooth) but you can hit escape and tab out just fine.
Ati has recognized the problem and will fix it in the next verion of catalyst apparently so till then we gotta deal with the framerate :/
its not just cs btw, its all Half-Life, and all its mods

Well I've got a 9700 non-pro... good to know I'm not the only one having that prob.... pheww

Yeh it would be nice for ATi to get a move on with the Catalyst 3.3 drivers
Smile

While I'm at it... I'd like to ask about the Status bar in IE 6.... not related to ATi but owell
It doesn't come up the next time I open a new window, even though i keep setting it back.... How do I fix it
A reply would be greatly appreciated, TA

I dont know how (or at least theres nothing I can rember doing) I fixed it
but I run Half-life in opengl highest resolution, 150 fps now
and I can hit esc, in other words
its running perfectly

only thing that jumps out at me is.. I went into the ati options and enabled "always check for vsync" in bothe opengl and direct3d
its actually fixed all clipping and other issues I had...
awesome
well hey give it a try, might work for you
just remember to restart the comp once you apply the changes (you dont have to, but I remember it still messed up until I restarted)

hope it helps, let me know
